It shall be unlawful for any person to commit a simple assault or any
assault and battery upon another person.
It shall be unlawful for any person to beg or solicit personal contributions
upon any street or other public place within the town. It shall be the duty
of any officer of the town to notify such person of this section and to give
such person the privilege of leaving the town, and if, after such notice,
such person continues to beg or solicit contributions or repeat such solicitation
after having been so warned, such acts shall constitute a misdemeanor.
A. Any person who shall do or engage in any of the following
shall be guilty of disorderly conduct:
(1) Any person who shall act in a violent or tumultuous manner
toward another, whereby any person is placed in danger of safety of his life,
limb or health.
(2) Any person who shall act in a violent or tumultuous manner
toward another, whereby public property or property of any other person is
placed in danger of being destroyed or damaged.
(3) Any person who shall endanger lawful pursuits of another
by acts of violence or threats of bodily harm.
(4) Any person who shall cause, provoke or engage in any
fight, brawl or riotous conduct so as to endanger the life, limb, health or
property of another or public property.
(5) Any person who shall assemble or congregate with another
or others and cause, provoke or engage in any fight or brawl.
(6) Any person who shall collect in bodies or in crowds and
engage in unlawful activities.
(7) Any person who shall use fighting words directed toward
any person who becomes outraged and thus creates turmoil.
(8) Any person who shall assemble or congregate with another
or others and do bodily harm to another.
(9) Any person who shall, by acts of violence, interfere
with another's pursuit of a lawful occupation.
(10) Any person who shall congregate with another or others
in or on any public way so as to halt the flow of vehicular or pedestrian
traffic and refuses to clear such public way when ordered to do so by a peace
officer or other person having authority.
B. Violation of this section shall be a misdemeanor.
It shall be unlawful for any person to turn in, report or otherwise
cause a false fire alarm within the town.
It shall be unlawful for any person to fire, shoot or detonate any firecracker,
bomb, powder or dynamite within the town, without a proper license therefor
issued by the Mayor.
It shall be unlawful to sell or offer for sale or store or have in possession
upon the person fireworks of any kind within the town.
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep within the town a room for
gambling or where persons resort for gambling purposes or any game of chance,
whether playing with cards, dice, money or other things, or to permit gambling
of any kind in any place; or for any person to gamble or engage in any gambling
game of any kind or character at any place, either publicly or privately.
It shall be unlawful for any person to play marbles or any other games
or pitch or throw balls of any kind or stones on the streets and sidewalks
of the town to the inconvenience or discomfort of the public.
A. No person shall keep a house of ill-fame, resorted to
for the purpose of prostitution or lewdness. In a prosecution for this offense,
the general character of the house may be proved.
B. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep any house
of assignation or bawdy house or any place where persons may meet for the
purpose of prostitution or illegal intercourse within the town. Every day
such house shall be kept or any prostitute kept, harbored or permitted to
remain therein for immoral purposes shall constitute a separate offense.
It shall be unlawful for any person to expose any part of his body,
in public, within the town, in an obscene and deliberate manner.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person over twelve (12)
years of age but less than sixteen (16) years of age to appear in or upon
any of the streets, highways, alleys or public places in the town whereby
the identity of such person is concealed, without first obtaining permission
from the Mayor or Police Chief.
B. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not exceeding fifty dollars
($50.) or imprisoned not more than ten (10) days, or both.
No person, by threats or force, shall attempt to intimidate or impede
a trial justice, witness or town police officer in the discharge of his duty
or resist arrest or obstruct or impede the administration of justice in any
court.
No person shall fail without good excuse to respond to the call of an
officer for assistance in the execution of his duty.
It shall be unlawful for any person to distribute pamphlets, leaflets,
books, posters, handbills, newspapers, magazines or any kind of literature
upon the street, to private residences or at any other place within the town
without having first procured from the Mayor express permission to do so.
Any person who shall steal from another any property of any kind or
character unless the property so stolen is of such value as to constitute
a felony under the state law shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
It shall be unlawful for any person to curse or profanely swear in any
public place in the town or to use violent and abusive language to any person
in the presence of any witness, reasonably calculated to provoke a breach
of the peace.
It shall be unlawful for any person to destroy, deface or otherwise
injure or damage any public or private property within the town by cutting,
marking, breaking or burning the same or by defacing the same in any manner
whatsoever.
No person shall make or cause to be made frequent or long continued
and unreasonable noise which disturbs the comfort and repose of any person
in the vicinity.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to become drunk and
while so drunk to appear in any public places within the town.
B. Any person guilty of a violation of the provisions of
this section shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.).
C. Any person convicted of three (3) or more violations
of this section within a year shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars
($500.) for the third or subsequent offense.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to go upon or remain
upon any school property, parks, playgrounds, water or sewer facilities or
garbage dump area after having been forbidden to do so, either orally or in
writing, by any duly authorized official of the town or any custodian or other
person lawfully in charge thereof.
B. Also, it shall be unlawful for any person, without the
consent of the owner, proprietor or custodian, to go or enter in the nighttime
upon the premises, property, driveways or walks of any cemetery, either public
or private, for any purpose other than to visit the burial lot or grave of
some member of his family.

A. It shall be unlawful for any person to carry concealed
any pistol, dirk, bowie knife, razor, knucks, slingshot or any weapon of like
kind.
B. This section shall not apply to any police officer, Sheriff,
state police officer or any officer of the law while in the discharge of his
official duty within the town.
