This chapter shall be known as the "Hellam Township
Snow Emergency and Snow Removal Ordinance."
As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
SNOW EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
Whenever the Township has received from a recognized weather
forecasting service a firm forecast of an anticipated accumulation
of snow, sleet or freezing rain.
SNOW REMOVAL CONDITIONS
Whenever there exists upon streets or roads within the Township
a substantial accumulation of ice or snow which, for the effective
removal thereof, requires a prohibition of parking.
The announcements required to be made by this
chapter shall be made between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. by means of
broadcasting or telecasts, where possible, through radio or television
stations with a normal operating range covering the Township and,
where not possible, shall be announced by loud speaker or other appropriate
means.

Vehicles parked on the roadway during a declared
snow emergency shall be subject to towing and storage by a bonded
tower at the owner's expense.
