This article shall be known and may be cited
as the "Fair Election Practices Ordinance."
As used in this article or in the State Fair
Election Practices Law herein adopted, the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated:
COUNTY
The City of Hagerstown.
It is hereby declared and ordained by the Council
of the City of Hagerstown to be the public policy of the City to regulate
fair election practices for candidates for office of the City of Hagerstown.
The provisions of this article shall apply to
all elections in which ballots shall be cast for the election of a
candidate or person to hold an office as Mayor, Councilman or any
other elective office for the City of Hagerstown, a municipal corporation.
All that portion of the Annotated Code of the
Public General Laws of Maryland, 1957, as subsequently amended, known
and designated as "Article 33, Election Code, Fair Election Practices,
§ 26-2 through and including § 26-20," and the
whole thereof and any and all subsequent amendments, deletions or
additions thereof, is hereby adopted. A copy of said code shall be
filed and is filed in the office of the Clerk of the City of Hagerstown.
Said fair election practices are adopted and incorporated as fully
as if set forth at length herein.
