An Economic Advisory Council is hereby created and established pursuant
to the authority of N.J.S.A. 40A:63-7.
Members of the Economic Advisory Council shall be appointed by the Township
Committee on motion. All initial appointments shall be retroactive to January
1, 2005. The Economic Advisory Council shall consist of seven members as follows:
A. One member, who shall be a member of the Delanco Township
Committee, to be appointed to a term of three years. If said member's
term on the Township Committee expires prior to the expiration of the three-year
term on this Council, the term on this Council shall be coterminous with the
member's term on Township Committee. In said event, another member of
the Township Committee shall be appointed to serve the unexpired term of the
previous member.
B. One member, who shall be a member of the Delanco Township
Joint Land Use Board, to be appointed to a term of three years. If said member's
term on the Joint Land Use Board expires prior to the expiration of the three-year
term on this Council, the term on this Council shall be coterminous with the
member's term on the Joint Land Use Board. In said event, another member
of the Joint Land Use Board shall be appointed to serve the unexpired term
of the previous member.
C. One member, who shall be a member of the Delanco Township
business community and shall be appointed for an initial term of three years.
This member may or may not be a resident of the Township.
D. Four members of the citizenry of Delanco Township, of
at least 18 years of age. Two members (designated as members Four and Five)
shall be appointed to initial terms of two years, and thereafter to terms
of three years. The remaining two members (designated as members Six and Seven)
shall be appointed to initial terms of one year, and thereafter to terms of
three years.
Any vacancy created other than by expiration of a term shall be filled
for the remainder of the unexpired term only and in accordance with the general
requirements of the membership position being filled.
Any member, except for the Third member described in §
18-2C above, that moves out of the Township shall immediately vacate and forfeit his or her membership on the Economic Advisory Council, and the seat shall be deemed vacant until an appointment is made by the Township Committee to fill the unexpired term of the vacated seat.
The purpose of the Economic Advisory Council is:
A. To promote the economic growth of the Township of Delanco.
B. To plan, implement and inform the community and surrounding
areas about economic growth, business and opportunity within the Township
of Delanco.
C. To make recommendations to the Township Committee with
regard to economic, business and related issues impacting the Township.
D. To submit a semiannual report to the Township Committee
regarding its activities over the prior six months and, if requested, appear
before the Township Committee for the discussion of same.
The Township Committee may, if necessary, appropriate funds for use
by the Economic Advisory Council to meet its stated purposes, and expenses
of the Commission shall not exceed the funds appropriated by the Committee.
The Economic Advisory Council shall provide for its own internal organizational
rules and procedures, as it deems desirable, and shall organize immediately.
