As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
MINIBIKE
A motor vehicle with two or three wheels, propelled by one or more
motors of a total not in excess of 3 1/2 horsepower, having a saddle
or seat upon which the driver sits or a platform upon which the driver stands,
and of insufficient size or power to provide a minimum speed on a level road
of at least 30 miles per hour.
MOTORCYCLE
A motor vehicle as defined in N.J.S.A. 39:1-1.
PUBLIC PLACE
The area, including streets, roadways, and pedestrian walkways, within
any public school grounds, public park, public playground, or other public
recreation area in the Township.
No person shall operate a minibike or motorcycle, or permit, suffer
or allow the operation of a minibike or motorcycle, in or upon any public
place, except that duly registered motorcycles may be operated, in accordance
with law, in or upon any public street, road or highway, other than a walkway
lying within a public place.
Unless another penalty is expressly provided herein, any person who
violates any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be
punished by a fine not exceeding $500, or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding
90 days, or both. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day
during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
