The membership of the Zoning Board of Adjustment shall consist of seven regular members. There shall be appointed to the Board two alternate members which shall be designated "Alternate No. 1" and "Alternate No. 2."
The term of the regular member shall be for four years, and the term of the alternate member shall be for two years. Vacancies occurring other than by the expirations of a term shall be filled only for the pendency of the current term.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment shall elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman from among its members. The Board must also elect a Secretary. The Secretary may or may not be a member of the Board and may be a municipal employee and create and fill such other offices established by ordinance. An alternate member shall not serve as Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment shall have the powers as specifically conferred upon it by P.L. 1991, c. 256, as amended (N.J.S.A. 40:55D-70).
