[Adopted as Ch. 7A of the 1982 Revised General Ordinances]
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
VICIOUS ANIMAL
Any animal which has previously attacked or bitten any person or which has behaved in such a manner that the person who harbors said animal knows or should reasonably know that the animal is possessed of tendencies to attack or bite persons.
WILD ANIMAL
Any live monkey, ape, raccoon, skunk, fox, snake or other reptile, leopard, panther, tiger, lion, lynx, or any other animal or bird of prey which can normally be found in the wild state.
A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person or association of persons to keep or permit to be kept, in the Borough of Stone Harbor, any wild or vicious animal for display or for exhibition purposes whether gratuitously or for a fee. This section shall not be construed to apply to zoological parks or museums properly established and operating pursuant to law.
B. 
It shall be unlawful for any person or association of persons to keep or permit to be kept, within the Borough of Stone Harbor, any wild animal as a pet.
C. 
It shall be unlawful for any person or association of persons to harbor, keep or permit to be kept any vicious animal in the Borough of Stone Harbor. Any such animal may be seized by any police officer or humane officer and, upon establishment, to satisfaction of any court of competent jurisdiction of the vicious character of said animal, may be destroyed by a police officer or humane officer, or may be removed from the Borough limits.
This article shall not apply to animals under the control of a law enforcement or military agency, nor to dogs which are kept for the protection of property, provided that such animals and dogs are restrained by a leash or chain, cage, fence, or other adequate means from contact with the general public, or from persons who enter the premises with the actual or implied permission of the owner or occupant.

Any person or association of persons convicted of a violation of this article shall, upon conviction, be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter 1, Article III, Penalty, of the Borough of Stone Harbor Code.
