For the safety of Village residents and others within the Village of
Newark Valley, this chapter is enacted prohibiting the discharge of firearms
and other weaponry within Village limits.
It shall be unlawful for any persons, other than duly authorized members
of police and other governmental agencies acting in the discharge of their
official duties, to fire, discharge, set off or cause or procure to be fired,
discharged, or set off any cannon, bow, crossbow, firearm, percussion or air
gun or any other gun, rifle, shotgun, or pistol within the Village limits
of the Village of Newark Valley.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be
guilty of a violation and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by
a fine not exceeding $250 for each offense or imprisonment for a period not
exceeding 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
