Local Law No. 1-1979 of the Town of Newark Valley, titled "Games of Chance Law of the Town of Newark Valley," shall be operative within the Village territorial limits of the Village of Newark Valley for the purpose of authorizing the conduct of games of chance by organizations within the Village limits.
This chapter is adopted pursuant to § 187 of the General Municipal Law. This chapter shall take effect 30 days after its adoption, unless within said period a proper petition for a referendum upon the chapter is filed with the Village Clerk-Treasurer pursuant to the provisions of Article 9 of Village Law.[1]

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Newark Valley hereby designates the responsibility for exercising control and inspection of all games of chance activities within the Village limits to the Tioga County Sheriff's office.
