Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:5-18, there is hereby established a service charge in the amount of $20 per check or other written instrument if payment tendered to the Township is returned for insufficient funds.

Whenever an account owing to the Township is for a tax or special assessment, the service charge authorized by this chapter shall be included on whatever list of delinquent accounts is prepared by the Tax Collector for the enforcement of the lien.
Service charges authorized by this chapter shall pertain to any payment made to the Township by check or other written instrument. In any case where such checks are returned for insufficient funds, the parties so doing shall be required to make any future payments in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
Any revision in the service charge amount approved by state statute shall automatically revise this chapter.
