The Department of Community Development of the
City of Scranton is hereby authorized, but not required, to conduct
prepurchase Building Code compliance inspections, on a time-available
basis as determined by the Department Director or the Master Code
Official, after the fee hereinafter described is paid.
The Department Director and Master Code Official
or their designee are authorized to submit a report to the requester,
provided that no warranty or guaranty be made by the City of Scranton
or any employee thereof as to the structural integrity of any structure,
or the presence of pests, unless actually observed. The city will
indicate simply whether the property is in compliance with BOCA Codes
in effect and what would need to be done to bring the property up
to code compliance. The City of Scranton reserves all legal rights
and immunities from suit.
