Wherever any railroad track shall cross at-grade
any paved street or highway within the city, the person maintaining
such track shall pave the space between the rails and for a distance
of one (1) foot outside of the rails, with creosoted wooden blocks
laid upon a plank base and covered with Tarvia. Such work shall be
done under the supervision and direction of the Director of the Department
of Public Works.
Existing crossings which, in the opinion of
the Director of the Department of Public Works, are in good repair
need not conform to the terms of this Article until such time as,
in the opinion of the Director, they shall require repairs or replacement
and notice to that effect has been given to the party maintaining
such track and a period of thirty (30) days after the giving of such
notice has elapsed.
