The Board of Health as heretofore established in the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus in accordance with Title 26 of the Revised Statutes is hereby continued.[1]

The Board of Health shall consist of five members and shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council to serve for three-year terms. The terms of not more than three members shall expire in any one year, except in the case of vacancies, which shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
The Board of Health shall adopt rules and regulations for its own government. It shall elect a President and Vice President from among its own members.
The Board of Health shall appoint a Registrar of Vital Statistics, a Clerk or Secretary, a Sanitary Inspector, and also may appoint such other officers or assistants as it may deem necessary. All appointees shall be governed by the Board, and they may be removed for cause by the said Board.
The Board of Health shall not contract liabilities of any kind beyond the amount allowed by law, except on appropriation made for its use by the Borough Council.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter be and the same are hereby repealed.
This chapter shall take effect upon final passage and publication according to law.
