A Citizens Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities
("CAC") is hereby created in the Town of Huntington for the purpose
of promoting, protecting, and ensuring the full and equal enjoyment
of all aspects of community life by persons with disabilities, including
areas such as non-discrimination, accessibility and mobility.
Each member shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years.
However, the first five members appointed shall serve for five (5)
years, the next four members appointed shall serve for four (4) years
and the last four members appointed shall serve for three (3) years.
Any appointment to fill a vacancy of an unexpired term shall assume
the term of the vacated position.
The Committee shall meet a minimum of eight (8) times per year
and at such additional times as the Chairperson of the Committee or
a majority thereof may determine. The Committee, or any such designee,
shall take the minutes of its meetings, file the minutes with the
Department of Human Services, and distribute same to the Committee
members. A quorum of the Committee shall be duly constituted with
one-third of the voting members present.
