This article shall be known as the "South Strabane Township
Traffic Ordinance of 2021."
The purpose of this article is to establish stop signs at certain
intersections as set forth herein and to also regulate certain speeds
on certain public road within South Strabane Township.
Words and phrases, when used in this article, except where otherwise
specifically provided, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in
the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (The Act of June 17, 1976, P.L. 162,
No. 8) as amended, except that, in this article, the word "street"
or "road" may be used interchangeably with the word "highway" and
shall have the same meaning as the word "highway" as described in
the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code. In this article, the singular shall
include the plural, the plural shall include the singular and the
masculine shall include the feminine.
All traffic regulations of a permanent nature shall be enacted
as ordinances, as part or ordinances, as amendments of ordinances,
or as amendments to this article, except where the law specifically
authorizes less formal action.
The provisions of this article so far as they are the same as
those of ordinances and regulations enforce immediately before the
enactment of this article are intended as a continuation of those
earlier ordinances and regulations, and not as new enactments. Nothing
in this article shall effect any act done or liability incurred, or
any suit or prosecution pending or to be instituted under any of those
repealed or superseded ordinances or regulations.
The police officers of South Strabane Township and the Pennsylvania
State Police are hereby authorized to direct traffic on highways of
South Strabane Township and intersections thereof and to otherwise
enforce the provisions of this article and the laws of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania.
The maximum speed limits are established on portions of specified
streets, as follows, and it shall be unlawful for any person to drive
a vehicle on any part of a street in excess of the maximum speed limit.

The following intersections are established as stop intersections,
and official stop signs shall be erected (or are ratified if previously
erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the intersecting
or through street. Every driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection
on said street shall stop the vehicle as required by the vehicle code,
75 Pa.C.S.A. § 3323(b), or as amended, or shall not proceed
into or across the intersecting street until he/she has followed all
applicable requirements of said law.

A.
Any person convicted of any violations of any of the provisions of § 220-25 shall be sentenced to pay those fines and costs established by the applicable provisions of the Vehicle Code or any subsequent act of the General Assembly which amends said Vehicle Code. Disposition of said fines shall be made in accordance with the Vehicle Code.
