Upon the finding by the Board of Water Commissioners of the Village
of Ossining, or by such other official board or body of the Village of Ossining
which may have jurisdiction, that a state of emergency exists affecting the
water supply, and upon the publication of a notice of such finding once in
the official newspaper of the Town of Ossining, the following rules for the
conservation of water shall become effective immediately for all properties
within the Town of Ossining Town Wide Water District:
A. Lawn sprinkling shall be limited to between the hours
of 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. In no
case shall a sprinkler operate in such manner as to flood sidewalks, drives
and roadways.
B. Cars may be washed by using a bucket or pail only.
C. No water supply lines may be maintained with bleeds on
any dock, structure or in any building for the purpose of maintaining a constant
flow to prevent freezing.
D. Swimming pools of the recirculating type only may be
filled and operated, except that private portable pools of a capacity of no
more than 600 gallons may be filled.
E. No automatic plumbing flush fixtures or apparatus using
a constant or fixed periodic flow shall be maintained or operated. The flow
from such apparatus shall only be by manual operation when the fixture or
apparatus is in actual use.
F. The cleaning or washing of the outside of buildings or
any structures, involving the use of water or steam in any form, is prohibited
until further notice.
G. The use of hose, spout and similar pressure bathing apparatus
is prohibited, and no constant flow from showers or similar apparatus shall
be maintained. Operation of such apparatus shall be manual and only when the
apparatus is in actual use.
Any person violating any part of this Article shall, upon conviction,
be subject to a fine of no more than $250 or a term of imprisonment not to
exceed 15 days, or both.
