This chapter shall be known and designated as
the "Pine Township Traffic Control Ordinance."

Pursuant to the Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 6109(b)(2),
the Board of Supervisors hereby appoints and authorizes the Chief
of Police and the Township Director of Public Works to act as a special
commission for the purpose of recommending changes and additions to
the traffic regulations of the Township, conducting engineering and
traffic investigations, as required by law, and obtaining advance
approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for such
regulations, as required by law. The Chief of Police and Township
Director of Public Works shall report such recommendations, investigations
and approvals periodically, as necessary, to the Board of Supervisors,
which may adopt such regulations as the permanent traffic control
regulations of the Township. The Board of Supervisors shall periodically
review all resolutions and traffic regulations as necessary and shall
adopt an ordinance or resolution of the Township to incorporate such
new traffic regulations as the Board of Supervisors deems appropriate.

All ordinances shall be adopted in accordance with the applicable
authorizing legislation and shall be recorded in the Ordinance Book.
A copy of all ordinances and amendments thereto pertaining to traffic
control shall be transmitted by the Township Manager to the Police
Department and the Township Director of Public Works. The Police Department
shall maintain for public inspection copies of all traffic control
ordinances and amendments thereto.

Signs publicizing the traffic control restrictions and regulations
shall be erected by the Department of Public Works at appropriate
places within the Township. No traffic control restriction or regulation
shall become effective until five days after an appropriate sign has
been placed in the affected area which is restricted or regulated.
Where signs are prescribed and regulated by the Pennsylvania Motor
Vehicle Code, the signs shall be erected in conformity with it. Otherwise,
signs shall be conclusively presumed to be in regular form and properly
placed.
Police are hereby authorized to use all devices
approved by any agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to determine
the speed of vehicles, including but not limited to, Vascar Plus and
Excessive Speed Prevention (ESP), for enforcement of any aspect of
the Motor Vehicle Code. This authorization shall include any timing
devices authorized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania subsequent
to the date of this chapter for use by local police forces.
