Within 30 days after assuming his office, the Mayor shall appoint a custodian of the voting machines, who shall hold office until the first Monday of January next succeeding the next biennial City election and until his successor shall have been duly appointed and qualified.
The custodian of the voting machines shall be charged with the responsibility of storing, maintaining, repairing and otherwise caring for such voting machines as may be owned by or be under the control of the City.
The custodian of the voting machines shall be paid in accordance with the salary schedule set out in Chapter 32, Article XII, § 32-38.

Commencing on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November 1976, and quadrennially thereafter, the electors of the City shall, by a plurality of the ballots cast, elect two Registrars of Voters, one from each of the two political parties casting the greatest number of ballots for such officers. Such Registrars shall hold office for four years from the first Monday in January 1977 and until their successors are duly elected and qualified.
