[Adopted 4-11-1995 by Ord. No. 95-15 (Ch. 31, Art. IXA, of the 1977 Code)]
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq. and 40A:9-152, there is hereby created and established in and for the Township of Hillsborough, the position of Municipal Treasurer. The Municipal Treasurer shall be a Municipal Finance Officer as that term is defined in N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq.
The Municipal Treasurer shall, as a condition of eligibility for appointment to office, be the holder of a Municipal Finance Officer Certificate issued by the New Jersey Division of Local Government Services pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.2 et seq.
The duties of the Municipal Treasurer shall be as contained in N.J.S.A. 40A:9 as applied to both the Municipal Treasurer and the Municipal Finance Officer.
The Municipal Treasurer shall receive such compensation as is limited by the Salary Ordinance[1] and set by resolution, as both may be amended from time to time.

The Municipal Treasurer shall be appointed by the Township Committee. The term of office of the Municipal Treasurer shall be four years.
The Township Committee may remove the Municipal Treasurer pursuant to the provision of Chapter 89of the Township Municipal Code entitled "Personnel Policies" and in accordance with New Jersey law.
