There shall be created the position of Planning
Director who shall serve as Director of the Department of Planning
and Zoning, who shall report administratively to the Township Administrator.
The qualifications of the Planning Director
shall be as follows:
A. Graduation from a four year course at a college of
recognized standing with a major course of study in planning, engineering,
architecture, political science, economics, geography, landscape architecture,
public administration or sociology, and responsible experience in
municipal, county, regional or state planning on a four-year basis
or any equivalent combination thereof.
B. Thorough knowledge of philosophy and principals of
planning and the problems involved in such work and the New Jersey
Land Use Law.
C. Be a licensed professional planner.
The duties and responsibilities of the Planning
Director shall be as follows:
A. Responsible for the organizing, promoting and making
of surveys; collection and compilation of data; conducting investigations
and analyses of this data; the drawing and drafting of maps and charts;
and the interpretation and transposition of statistical data into
visual form.
B. Serve as staff to the Planning Board and, as such,
shall assist in preparing and revising the Master Plan and the administering
of a long-term comprehensive planning service.
C. Serve as staff to the Board of Adjustment.
D. Serve as staff to any other boards, commissions or
subcommittees as required or as recommended by the Township Administrator.
E. Other related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate
by the Township Administrator.
The Planning Director shall receive such compensation
as is limited by the Salary Ordinance and set by resolution, as both
may be amended from time to time.
The Planning Director shall serve at the pleasure
of the Township Committee.
The Township Committee may remove the Planning Director pursuant to the provisions of Chapter
89 of the Township Municipal Code entitled "Personnel Policies" and in accordance with New Jersey law.
