Following are several references to laws enacted
by the State of New York. The permit applicant should understand that
he is responsible for meeting these requirements. The Village will
assist the applicant with information to the extent possible.
A. State environmental quality review (SEQR). Article
8 of the Environmental Conservation Law, the State Environmental Quality
Review Act (SEQRA), requires that all local governments evaluate the
environmental impacts of their acts and those of persons seeking funding
or permits from them. Activities and projects listed under Article
8 and Part 616 of Title 6, New York Codes, Rules and Regulations,
under the Act shall meet the requirements of those regulations.
B. New York State Uniform Fire and Building Code. The
State Uniform Fire and Building Code is in effect in the Village of
Carthage. The enforcing officer will provide permit applications and
information on permit procedure or references to proper authorities.
