The Town of Greenport, having established the Town of Greenport
Planning Board by a local law adopted May 1, 1968, makes the following
findings: It is in the best interest of the Town of Greenport to designate
the membership of the Town of Greenport Planning Board to consist
of five members.

A. The membership of the Town of Greenport Planning Board
shall consist of five members.
B. The Town Board shall, by resolution, appoint the members
of the Planning Board.

The terms of the members of the Planning Board
shall be equal in years to the number of members of the Planning Board.

A. Members of the Planning Board shall be required to
complete a minimum of four hours of training during each calendar
year, or portion thereof, designed to enable such members to more
effectively carry out their duties. Training received annually in
excess of four hours may be carried over into succeeding years. Training
sessions shall be approved by the Town Board by resolution upon recommendation
of the Planning Board and may include training provided by municipal,
county or regional planning departments, planning federations, state
agencies, state-wide municipal associations, colleges or other sponsoring
entities. The training may include electronic media, video, Internet
learning, or traditional classroom training as approved by the Town
Board by resolution.
B. No member of the Planning Board shall be eligible
for reappointment to the Planning Board without having completed the
cumulative annual training required by this section.
Each provision of the local law adopted May
1, 1968, and amended on July 6, 1977, establishing the Greenport Planning
Board, shall remain in full force and effect.
If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of
this section is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not effect
the validity of the remaining portions of this section.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon
filing in the office of the Secretary of State.
