It shall be unlawful for any person to engage
in the business of selling or preparing for sale live fowl or poultry
or to slaughter live fowl or poultry in the Borough of Riverdale without
first having obtained, from the Board of Health of said Borough, a
license for any such purpose.
Before such license is granted, the applicant
shall submit to the Board an application therefor, in writing, setting
forth thereon:
A. A description of the premises intended to be so used.
B. The character of the building wherein the business
is contemplated to be conducted.
C. A description of all buildings, if any, located within
a distance of 200 feet of the premises intended to be so used.
A license will be denied if the application
therefor or an independent investigation reveals that the premises
intended to be so used is:
A. Within 200 feet of any church, library, hospital,
sanitarium or other public building, as measured from the nearest
boundary line of the premises intended to be so used.
B. Detrimental to the health of the surrounding neighbors
and neighborhood.
C. Not in strict compliance with all the requirements
of this chapter and the rules and regulations of the State Board of
Health.
D. Such that the operation thereof will tend to create
a nuisance.
All poultry or fowl shall be sold within 24
hours of slaughtering, unless the same shall be adequately refrigerated,
in accordance with the provisions of this chapter applying to the
refrigeration of meat.
No person shall sell or offer for sale any live
or slaughtered fowl or poultry which is diseased or in any manner
unfit for human consumption.
