There is hereby established a special committee to be known and designated as "The Industrial Development Committee of the Township of Riverside," the members of which shall be appointed by the Mayor.
The Committee shall consist of seven members, who shall be residents of the Township of Riverside and shall be selected on the basis of their qualifications and fitness for service on the Committee.
No member of the Committee shall be interested, directly or indirectly, in any contracts for work or materials used by the Committee or in any sales, leases or agreements in connection with lands, buildings or other property owned or controlled by the Committee or in any fees or compensation of any kind paid to any broker, architect, engineer, merchant or other person doing business with the Committee or in any other transaction of or with the Committee or the benefits or profits thereof.
One member shall be appointed for one year, one member for two years, one member for three years, two members of four years and two members for five years. At the expiration of each of the above terms, the new member shall be appointed for a term of five years. Vacancies in the membership of the Committee, occurring for whatever cause, shall be promptly filled by appointment of the Mayor for the unexpired term thereof. Members shall serve for their respective terms and until their successors are appointed and qualify. All new terms shall commence on January 1.
The duties of the Committee shall be as follows:
To conduct a study and survey of the opportunities of the Township of Riverside for industrial expansion and development.
To analyze the several and various industries of the nation with a view to ascertaining the type of industry best suited to the economic and social improvement of the Township of Riverside.
To recommend to the Township Committee desirable and suitable areas within the Township for the location of industry, light manufacturing and business.
To recommend to the Township Committee reasonable and desirable restrictions concerning industrial sites, in order to safeguard property values of established residential areas in the Township.
To promote the advantages of the Township of Riverside for industrial settlement.
To encourage expansion of existing industry and business to the best interest of the Township of Riverside.
To prepare, develop and distribute any and all types of material and data advertising the advantages of the Township of Riverside to new business and industry.
