There is hereby established and hereby confirmed the position of Zoning Officer of the Borough of Emerson, who shall have the responsibilities and perform the duties herein set out.
The Zoning Officer shall be appointed annually, to serve for one calendar year, by the Mayor of the Borough of Emerson with the consent of the Borough Council. The individual serving as Construction Code Official is eligible for and may be appointed to said position.
The Zoning Officer shall enforce the provisions of the Zoning, Land Use and Property Maintenance Ordinances of the Borough of Emerson[1] and the statutes of the State of New Jersey dealing with zoning, in particular the Municipal Land Use Act reported at N.J.S.A. 40:55D-62 et seq.

The Zoning Officer shall review all applications for site plan approval and/or building permits for compliance with applicable land use regulations in accordance with the Municipal Land Use Law (N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq.) and the Code of the Borough of Emerson and shall perform such other duties as the Mayor and Council may require.
