The position of Captain is hereby established for the Police Department of the borough and the hiring of one person to fill that position is hereby authorized.
The qualifications for persons applying for the position as Captain are as follows:
A. 
The person shall have 15 years of continuous service with the Norristown Police Department.
B. 
The person shall have five years of service as a Sergeant with the Norristown Police Department.
C. 
The person shall have at least 60 hours of college credits towards a college degree and an Associate degree in a criminal justice major of a college curriculum.

The position of Captain will be filled by a test given by the Borough of Norristown Civil Service Commission to all qualified candidates and the actual appointment to the position shall be made by the Mayor of the Borough of Norristown from the certified list of eligible candidates from the Civil Service Commission.
The salary of Captain shall be the base salary pay for the position of Sergeant plus 10%.
