From and after the enactment of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any minor under eighteen (18) years of age to be in any public place or on any public street, road, alley or sidewalk within the Township of Patterson from the hours of 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. (and the hour of 11:00 p.m. shall be known as the "curfew time" in said township) unless said minor is in the immediate company of an adult person. The time so designated shall be Eastern Standard Time when that time is in effect in the township and shall be Eastern Daylight Saving Time when that time is in effect in the township.

It shall be unlawful for any parent or parents to allow any of their minor children under the age of eighteen (18) to be in any public place, street, road, alley or sidewalk within the Township of Patterson between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. unless said minor is in the immediate company of an adult person having supervision over said minor.
This chapter, known as the "Curfew Ordinance," shall not apply so long as a minor is in the process of traveling immediately from a public, school or church function to his home, but shall apply if said minor shall fail to immediately go home from said public or school function.

If any minor shall violate the terms of this chapter and shall be found in a public place as set forth above after the hour of 11:00 p.m. at night, set forth herein as "curfew time," then it shall be the duty of the police of the township to take said minor into custody and return said minor to his home, whereupon the parents of said minor shall be fined a sum of not more than six hundred dollars ($600.) plus costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, shall be imprisoned in the county jail for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days.[2]
