For the purposes of this chapter, the following
terms shall have the following meanings:
RESIDENCE
Single-family houses, duplexes, townhouses, garden apartments
and other buildings used in part or exclusively for dwelling purposes.
It shall be the duty of the owner or person in control of any residence to display a residence number within 30 days after being notified to do so by the Borough Police Department, in accordance with this chapter, §
64-3.
The number assigned to each house, apartment,
building or other structure shall be placed in a conspicuous place
on or over each front door, front transom bar, front transom glass,
front show window or front steps or over or on either side of the
entrance to such house, apartment, building or structure. Such numbers
shall be of paint, enamel or metal, at least four inches in height
and placed in such a manner as to be in plain view.
No person shall cover the number of a house,
apartment, building or other structure with any sign, drapery or obstruction
tending to conceal such number.
It shall be the duty of any builder, developer,
contractor, owner or person in control of any residence now existing
or hereafter erected within said Borough to display and maintain a
residence number in accordance with the requirements of this chapter
before such residence may be occupied or continue to be occupied.
Any person, partnership, firm or corporation
who violates the provisions of this chapter by the failure, omission
or refusal to comply with same shall, upon conviction thereof, be
sentenced to pay a fine not to exceed $100, plus costs, and each day
that the violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
