All of the public schools of the Town of Manchester
shall continue to be consolidated, and the Board of Education shall
continue to consist of nine (9) members. At the Town election held
in October, 1948, and at each biennial election thereafter, there
shall be elected three (3) members of the Board to serve for a term
of three (3) years commencing on the second Monday in November in
the year of their election and three (3) members to serve for a term
of three (3) years commencing on the second Monday in November of
the next year. At each such election no elector shall vote for more
than two (2) candidates to take office in the year of the election
and two (2) candidates to take office the next year.
The Board of Education shall perform such duties
and have such powers as are or may be imposed or vested by the General
Statutes upon boards of education in the several towns, which statutes
shall prevail over any provision of this Charter in event of conflict.

The Board of Education shall appoint a Superintendent
of Schools. As to any term of office that commences after January
1, 1997, the Superintendent need not be a resident of the Town or
state at the time of appointment but within one (1) year of appointment
shall reside within the Town.
