Borough of Newfield, NJ Chapter 32 Meetings

§ 32-1 Preparation of schedule of regular meetings; posting and other notice.

The Municipal Clerk shall prepare by January 15 of each year a schedule of the regular meetings of the Borough Council which it is contemplated will be held during that year, showing the date, time and location of each meeting. Such schedule shall be filed and retained in the Municipal Clerk's office for public inspection, shall be mailed to the persons who prepay the prescribed fee as hereinafter provided and shall be posted on the bulletin board of the Borough Hall. In the event that the schedule is thereafter revised, the Municipal Clerk shall, within seven days of any revision, post, mail and submit such revision in the manner described above.

§ 32-2 Notice of meetings not on schedule.

Prior to each and every meeting of the Mayor and Borough Council, notice of which has not been posted or designated as above, the Clerk shall prepare a written advance notice of such meeting, giving the time, date and location of the meeting, together with the agenda thereof and a statement as to whether or not formal action on any matter is contemplated. Such notice shall be posted in the Borough Hall and retained in the Clerk's office for public inspection, shall be transmitted to the two newspapers hereinafter mentioned and shall be mailed to all those persons paying the prescribed fee therefor. Such notice shall in all cases be given at least 48 hours prior to the meeting and, in cases where notice is being given of a regular meeting of the Borough Council, shall be given to the newspapers in sufficient time to permit publication prior to the meeting in addition to the forty-eight-hour requirement.

§ 32-3 Newspapers to be notified.

The newspapers which shall receive notice are the Vineland Times Journal and the Franklinville Sentinel. In addition, any newspaper which requests to be notified shall be so notified by the Municipal Clerk of all meetings.

§ 32-4 Notices to individuals; fees.

Any person, upon the payment of a fee of $10 to the Municipal Clerk, shall receive all notices for the calendar year. If such request is made during the second six months of any year, the notices shall be mailed for a six-month period or less upon prepayment of a fee of $5.

§ 32-5 Fee for minutes of meetings.

Any person, upon payment of a fee of $5 or $0.75 per page, whichever is greater, to the Clerk of the Borough of Newfield, shall receive a copy of the minutes of any meeting requested.
