[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Canonsburg 11-1-1988 as Ch. 1, Part 3, of the 1988 Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]
Pursuant to authority granted to Borough Council under the provisions of the Borough Code [8 Pa.C.S.A. § 1005(7)], provision is hereby made for the appointment of an independent auditor, who shall be a certified public accountant registered in Pennsylvania, a firm of certified public accountants so registered or a competent public accountant or a competent firm of public accountants.
Said independent auditor shall be appointed by the Borough Council annually by resolution before the close of the fiscal year to make an independent examination of the accounting records of the Borough of Canonsburg for such fiscal year, and such independent auditor shall also perform the other duties and exercise the powers conferred upon him or her by the Borough Code, 8 Pa.C.S.A. § 1059.11 et seq., including any amendments from time to time appertaining thereto.
In addition to the duties and powers of the independent auditor as set forth in said Borough Code, it shall further be the duty of the independent auditor to furnish the Borough Council with a copy of the audit report and to meet and discuss the audit report with the Borough Council upon completion thereof.
The Office of Elected Borough Auditors in the Borough of Canonsburg is hereby abolished.
