It shall be unlawful to sell or distribute alcoholic beverages
in the Borough of Edgewater without a license previously applied for
and granted pursuant to the provisions of this article and/or the
New Jersey Revised Statutes.
The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Edgewater shall constitute
the authority for the administration of the issuance of licenses and
shall forthwith report the issuance of all such licenses to the Director
of Alcoholic Beverages.

Not more than 17 plenary retail consumption licenses shall be
outstanding in the Borough at the same time. Not more than one plenary
retail distribution license shall be outstanding in the Borough at
the same time.
No limited retail distribution license and no seasonal retail
consumption license shall be granted within the Borough of Edgewater.

No more than two retail licenses shall be granted to any person,
corporation, partnership, limited partnership or association in the
Borough of Edgewater, and each license shall cover only the licensed
premises.
No license of any class shall be issued contrary to any zoning
regulations now existing or hereafter enacted in this municipality.

A. No alcoholic beverages shall be sold, served, delivered to or consumed
in any licensed premises on any day between the hours of 3:00 a.m.
and 7:00 a.m., except Sundays and New Year's Day each year as
hereinafter provided. The provisions of this subsection shall not
apply on Sunday. On Sundays, no alcoholic beverages may be sold, served,
delivered to or consumed in the licensed premises between the hours
of 3:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The provisions of this subsection shall
not apply on January 1. On that day no alcoholic beverages may be
sold, served, delivered to or consumed in the licensed premises between
the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., unless January 1 is a Sunday,
in which case no alcoholic beverages may be sold, served, delivered
to or consumed in the licensed premises between the hours of 5:00
a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
B. During the hours the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited, the
entire licensed premises shall be closed, and no person shall be allowed
to remain on the licensed premises except the licensee and employees
of the licensee.
C. The closing provisions as set forth in Subsection
B shall not apply to liquor-licensed bona fide restaurants, hotels and clubs.
Violations of the provisions of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, Article
II, General Penalty.
