As used in this section, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
OPEN PORCH
A covered area attached to an entrance to a dwelling, not enclosed by walls, glass, screens or otherwise except for columns and/or railings which are no less than 50% open.

No variance from front yard setback requirements of the Land Development Chapter shall be required for an open porch added to an existing detached single-family dwelling, which dwelling was constructed prior to October 12, 2010, in an R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-5, R-6, R-7, RC-1, RC-2, RC-3, or RC-4 Zone, provided that the following conditions are met:
a. 
The porch shall be an open porch as defined in Subsection 21-18B.1.
b. 
The porch shall not exceed a width of 10 feet or a depth of eight feet. The height shall be such that the underside of the porch covering is not more than 10 feet above the porch floor.
c. 
The porch shall not protrude more than six feet into the minimum required front yard for the zone in which it is located.
