Effective December 1, 2016, longevity pay is eliminated and
all present employees not yet eligible for longevity pay and all new
employees shall not be entitled to or receive any longevity pay. Longevity
pay for all employees who are currently receiving the same shall be
frozen at the monetary dollar amount (not percentage) they are currently
receiving as longevity pay. This article shall not be applicable to
any employees whose salary and benefits are established pursuant to
a collective bargaining agreement.
The fixed longevity monetary amount to be paid to employees
entitled to receive a longevity payment hereunder shall be paid in
equal weekly installments, together with regular base salary, said
weekly payment to be known as "total salary."
The Department of Administration shall certify to the Treasurer and Comptroller of the City the effective dates of employment and applicable percentages for payment of the longevity increment for all employees entitled to receive longevity payment as of December 1, 2016, under the rules set forth in Chapter
6, Administrative Affairs, Article
IX, entitled "Longevity Pay in Increments," as established and written before this article eliminated longevity payments. Thereafter, said monetary amount of said longevity payments shall freeze and be fixed. The fixed longevity payment shall be paid in accordance with §
6-25, entitled "Payment."
