As used in this chapter, the following words shall have the
following meanings:
BICYCLE
Every device propelled by human power upon which any person
may ride, having two tandem wheels, either of which is more than 16
inches in diameter.
OPERATE
To ride upon, drive, propel or otherwise convey oneself or
others by use of a bicycle or skateboard.
SKATEBOARD
A single platform mounted on wheels, which is designed to
be propelled by human power.
No person shall operate a skateboard on any street, sidewalk
or public way within the area encompassed by the following streets:
from the north end of Howell Street; easterly along West Washington
Street and East Washington Street to the corner of Gansevoort Street;
thence southerly along Gansevoort Street to the intersection with
East Steuben Street; thence easterly along East Steuben Street to
the intersection with Halsey Street; thence southerly along Halsey
Street; thence southerly along Halsey Street to the intersection with
East Morris Street; thence westerly along East Morris Street to the
intersection of Pulteney Square West; thence northerly along Pulteney
Square West to the intersection of West Steuben Street; thence westerly
along West Steuben Street to the intersection of Howell Street; thence
northerly along Howell Street to the point and place of beginning.
No person shall operate a bicycle on any sidewalk within the
following area: Liberty Street, from Washington Street to East Steuben
Street; East William Street, from Liberty Street to Gansevoort Street;
West William Street, from Liberty Street to Howell Street; Buell Street;
East Steuben Street, from Gansevoort Street to Liberty Street; West
Steuben Street, from Liberty Street to Howell Street; Pulteney Park
West and Pulteney Park East.
In all other areas of the Village of Bath, the riding or use
of skateboards, scooters, in-line skates, roller skates or bicycles
in a reckless manner is hereby prohibited. The term "reckless" shall
have the same meaning as defined in the Penal Law of the State of
New York, § 15.05, Subdivision 3.
