Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in R-2, R-3, R-4
and R-5 residential occupancies shall be installed in accordance with
N.J.A.C. 5:70-4.19.
A. An inspection fee for a certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC) as set forth in Chapter
265 of this Code shall be that required under the following conditions:
(1) Requests for a CSDCMAC prior to the change of occupant/owner.
(2) A fee shall be assessed for the second required reinspection or greater.
(3) A fee shall be assessed for failure to keep appointment.
B. Apartment units not owner-occupied shall be inspected prior to being occupied by every new tenant. The same fee as specified in Subsection
A above shall be utilized for apartment inspections.
Fire extinguishers shall be installed in all residential occupancies
in accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:27D-198.1. An extinguisher must meet
the following requirements:
A. Must be rated for residential use.
B. No larger than a ten-pound-rated extinguisher.
C. Must be mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen area, unless otherwise
permitted by the Fire Official.
All penalties as indicated in the New Jersey Administrative
Code, Uniform Fire Code, shall be adopted for the purpose of enforcing
this section of the code.
An owner who sells, leases, rents or otherwise permits to be
occupied for residential purposes any premises subject to the provisions
of this chapter, when the premises do not comply with the requirements
of this chapter or without complying with the inspection and certification
requirements hereof shall be subject to a fine of not more than $500,
which may be collected and enforced by the Cinnaminson Bureau of Fire
Prevention, by summary proceedings pursuant to the Penalty Enforcement
Law, N.J.S.A. 2A:58-1 et seq.
