All property and existing buildings or structures are, as of January 1, 1974, assigned new numbers in accordance with the uniform property numbering system of North Huntingdon Township as hereinafter set forth. The occupants of each building or structure shall have one calendar year in which to conform to the new system. Each house number must be prominently displayed on or adjacent to each building or structure so that it will be visible for identification from the street or road.
The basic formula of the North Huntingdon Township property numbering system shall be as follows: United States Route 30 shall be the zero meridian for all roads running primarily north and south and the Westmoreland County Courthouse shall be the zero meridian for all roads running primarily east and west. The numbering system shall then be composed of even numbers on the south and west sides and odd numbers on the north and east sides, with approximately 1,000 numbers reserved for each one mile of lineal road. There are attached hereto and made part hereof 11 maps designating with particularity the Township numbering system.[1]

Any new building or structure requiring an address shall be given a property or house number by the Code Enforcement Officer upon issuance of a zoning certificate (building permit). It will further be the responsibility of the Code Enforcement Officer to notify the following agencies of newly issued property or house numbers at the end of each calendar month: Police Department, Rescue Company No. 8, Fire Companies No. 1 through No. 7, Township Treasurer, Tax Collector and the Planning Commission. The notification to these agencies by the Code Enforcement Officer shall include adequate identification of the location so that the number can be accurately plotted on existing maps.
It shall be the responsibility of the Planning Commission to maintain the property numbering maps scaled at one inch to 400 feet as the Commission is notified of the issuing of the property numbers by the Code Enforcement Officer. The maps shall be updated not less than once every two months.
All residents of the Township currently using the address of Irwin, Pa. 15642, shall, as of January 1, 1974, use the address of North Huntingdon, PA 15642. All such residents shall have one calendar year in which to conform to the Township property numbering system.
It shall be the responsibility of the Joint Postal Address Commission, appointed by the Board of Commissioners, to notify all residents of their new addresses prior to January 1, 1974.
It is the intention of the Board of Commissioners to post all roads listed on the Official Township Road Map with uniform and proper identification signs. Posting shall be completed by January 31, 1974.
