As used in this chapter, unless otherwise provided, the following
terms shall have the meanings indicated:
ACCEPTABLE WASTE
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
ASHES
All residue from coal, wood or other fuel.
BULK ITEMS
Sofas, box springs, furniture, etc., and those items which
cannot fit in sufficient trash receptacles.
GARBAGE
All animal or vegetable matter or refuse, including, but
not limited to, offal from meat, fruit or vegetable, or parts thereof,
and other articles and materials ordinarily used for food or human
or animal consumption which have become unfit for human or animal
use or which for any reason have been discarded, but shall not include
bodies of dead animals or excrement of humans or animals.
HAZARDOUS WASTE
Shall be as defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
INFECTIOUS WASTE
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Solid Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations
of the Eastern Montgomery County Municipal Waste Authority.
MULTIFAMILY DWELLINGS
All buildings, the primary purpose and use of which are for
residential occupancy by four (4) or more separate and distinct families,
tenants and/or household units; a "rowhouse" or "townhouse" dwelling
which contains four (4) or more single or duplex dwelling units which
are owned, including the land upon which they are erected, in fee
simple by separate persons shall not be a multifamily dwelling hereunder.
MUNICIPAL WASTE COLLECTOR(S)
Any collector, remover, transporter and/or hauler of municipal
waste within the Township. The Township shall be the municipal waste
collector for residents because it provides the manpower and equipment
for the collection of municipal waste.
NONPROCESSABLE WASTE
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
POINT OF ENTRY INTO THE COUNTY SYSTEM
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
PROCESSABLE WASTE
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
RECYCLABLE MATERIALS
Clear glass, colored glass, aluminum cans, steel and bimetallic
cans, high-grade office paper, newsprint, corrugated paper, plastics,
leaf waste, tree branches, magazines and other materials that may
be designated by the Township.
RECYCLING CONTAINER
Any container used by the Township for the separation and
collection of recyclable materials by persons occupying residence
with the Township.
REFUSE
Garbage, ashes, trash and rubbish, but not trade waste materials,
all as herein defined.
RESIDENT(S)
The legal owner, occupant or lessee of a single-family residential
unit served by the curbside collection of municipal waste, but not
including multifamily dwellings as defined herein, apartments, apartment
houses and condominiums.
RUBBISH
Grass, yard cuttings, branches, Christmas trees, household
items and other customary household waste. This item shall not include
construction materials or the waste and debris of building contractors
except for small quantities or such debris resulting from minor repairs
to homes that would, otherwise, be acceptable.
SOLID WASTE
Garbage, ashes, trash, rubbish, refuse, white goods, bulk
items, as defined herein.
TRADE WASTE
All refuse materials resulting from or provided by a building
operation, a multifamily dwelling, unapproved commercial, industrial
or other nonresidential establishments or premises, including, but
not limited to, trailer courts and apartment developments.
TRASH
Rags, old clothes, leather, rubber, wood, excelsior, sawdust,
crockery and similar items.
UNACCEPTABLE WASTE
Shall be defined as provided in the Municipal Solid Waste
Disposal and Joint Cooperation Ordinance, Ordinance No. 1071 of 1991,
the Inter-Municipal Agreement for the Disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste dated May 18, 1989, and the regulations of the Eastern Montgomery
County Municipal Waste Authority.
WHITE GOODS
Refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, window air conditioners,
hot water heaters and other major home appliances and goods that are
determined as nonprocessable waste by the authority.

No person shall dump, deposit or place any garbage, trash or refuse, or any similar matter, on public or private property within the Township except at a sanitary landfill instituted and maintained under the inspection, approval and permit procedure provided in Article
VI of this chapter.
