A. Scholarships established. A program of scholarships is hereby established
for courses of study leading to the certificate, diploma or other
evidence of qualification to practice on completion of specialized
training in categories as specified by the County Commissioners.
B. Scholarships awarded pursuant to established criteria. Scholarships
under this chapter shall be awarded to recipients in an amount and
number that is in accordance with criteria specified by the County
Commissioners.
C. Appropriation of funds; authority to excuse recipient from subsequent
County practice. The County Commissioners are authorized and empowered
to appropriate funds for scholarships hereunder from the general funds
of Charles County and to excuse a scholarship recipient, at the discretion
of the County Commissioners or their designee, from fulfilling a requirement
that the scholarship recipient practice in the recipient's field
in Charles County after completing the specialized training or course
of instruction for which the scholarship was awarded.
