The Hudson Urban Forestry Board shall consist of a member of
the Common Council appointed annually by the Mayor in May, and six
additional citizen members, each appointed in May for a two-year term,
with the terms so staggered that no more than three members are appointed
each year. All appointees shall be subject to confirmation by the
Common Council and shall serve without compensation. The Hudson Urban
Forestry Board shall elect its own officers during May of each year,
shall be responsible to the Public Works Committee working directly
with the Public Works and Park Director, and shall act in an advisory
capacity having the following duties:
A. To make recommendations for studies relative to overseeing the development
and maintenance of the City's Urban Forestry Program.
B. To determine and make recommendations relative to the present and
future needs of the City's urban forest.
C. To establish and recommend tree/forest management policies.
D. To review and make recommendations for tree management including
updates to the Municipal Code.
E. To assist with determining the level of tree treatment, pruning,
removal, planting and utilization of an annual budget.
F. To assist with providing technical advice to property owners and
developers regarding tree planting, care and preservation.
