No person shall start a vehicle which is stopped, standing,
or parked, unless and until the movement can be made with reasonable
safety. (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 11-803)
Any stop or turn signal, when required herein, shall be given
either by means of the hand and arm or by an electric turn signal
device conforming to the requirements provided in ILCS Ch. 625, Act
5, § 12-208. (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 11-805)
All signals given by hand and arm shall be given from the left
side of the vehicle in the following manner, and the signals shall
indicate as follows:
A. Left turn: hand and arm extended horizontally.
B. Right turn: hand and arm extended upward, except that a person operating
a bicycle may extend the right hand and arm horizontally and to the
right side of the bicycle.
C. Stop or decrease of speed: hand and arm extended downward.
