The purpose of this chapter is to set forth the residency requirements
for the appointed position of Putnam County Commissioner of Planning,
Development and Public Transportation.
Notwithstanding the provisions of any law, rule or regulation
which requires that a public officer be a resident of the political
subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he or
she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions
are required to be exercised, a person shall not be prevented from
holding the position of the Putnam County Commissioner of Planning,
Development and Public Transportation, so long as such person resides
in Putnam County or an adjoining county within the State of New York,
at the time of appointment and continuously throughout his or her
appointment.
