[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Meeting of the Town of Easton 3-25-1980 as Title XIC of the 1980 Code of Ordinances. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There shall continue to be a Zoning Board of Appeals consisting of five members who are electors of the Town of Easton and are not members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Said Board shall be elected for a term of five consecutive years, and the terms of office shall be arranged so that the terms of not more than three members shall expire in any one year and so that not more than four members are members of the same political party.
The Board by vote of its regular members shall elect a Chair from among its members. Meetings of such Board shall be held at the call of the Chair and at such other times as the Board determines and shall be open to the public.
A. 
There shall also continue to be a panel of alternates consisting of three members who shall not be members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Each alternate shall be appointed for a term of three consecutive years. Appointments shall be made so that not more than two members of the panel shall be members of the same political party.
B. 
If a regular member of the Board is absent or is disqualified, the Chair of the Board shall designate an alternate from the panel, choosing alternates in rotation so that they shall act as nearly equal a number of times as possible. If any alternate is not available in accordance with such rotation, such fact shall be recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
The Board, including any alternate member, when seated, shall have all the powers and duties as set forth in the General Statutes for such Board and its members.
