All City elections shall be conducted and held in conformance with the provisions of Chapter 115, RSMo.
A. 
A municipal election for the qualified voters of this City shall be held on the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of each year.
B. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of odd-numbered years, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Canton shall be held for the purpose of electing a Mayor who shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.
C. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of even-numbered years, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Canton shall be held for the purpose of electing one (1) Alderman from each ward who shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.
D. 
On the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday in April of odd-numbered years, a municipal election of the qualified voters of the City of Canton shall be held for the purpose of electing one (1) Alderman from each ward who shall hold his/her office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified.
Any person who desires to become a candidate for an elective City office at the general City election shall file with the City Clerk, not prior to the hour of 8:00 A.M., on the sixteenth (16th) Tuesday prior to, nor later than 5:00 P.M., on the eleventh (11th) Tuesday prior to the next City municipal election, a written declaration of his/her intent to become a candidate at said election. The City Clerk shall keep a permanent record of the names of the candidates, the offices for which they seek election, and the date of their filing, and their names shall appear on the ballots in that order.
No person shall be a candidate for municipal office unless such person complies with the provisions of Section 115.346, RSMo., regarding payment of municipal taxes or user fees.
The City Clerk shall, on or before the sixteenth (16th) Tuesday prior to any election at which City offices are to be filled by said election, notify the general public of the opening filing date, the office or offices to be filled, the proper place for filing, and the closing filing date of the election. Such notification may be accomplished by legal notice published in at least one (1) newspaper of general circulation in the City.
The form of said written declaration of candidacy shall be substantially as follows:

In City elections, the City Clerk shall notify the County Clerk prior to 5:00 P.M. on the tenth (10th) Tuesday prior to any City election except as noted in Section 115.125.1, RSMo. The notice shall be in writing, shall specify that the Board of Aldermen is calling the election, the purpose of the election, the date of the election, and shall include a certified copy of the legal notice to be published including the sample ballot. The written notice shall be executed on behalf of the Board of Aldermen by the Mayor of the Board and shall include the attestation of the City Clerk and shall have affixed thereto the Seal of the City of Canton. The notice and any other information required by this Section may, with the prior notification to the election authority receiving the notice, be accepted by facsimile transmission prior to 5:00 P.M. on the tenth (10th) Tuesday prior to the election, provided that the original copy of the notice and a certified copy of the legal notice to be published shall be received in the office of the election authority within three (3) business days from the date of the facsimile transmission.

All references in the following descriptions to "City" shall mean the City of Canton, Missouri.
1. 
Ward No. One: Beginning on the east boundary line of the City of Canton at a point where Clark Street, extended eastwardly, would intersect the east boundary line of the said City; thence west to the centerline of Second Street; thence north to the centerline of College Street; thence west to the centerline of Fourth Street; thence south to the centerline of Clark Street; thence west on Clark Street to the centerline of Ninth Street; thence south to the centerline of Washington Street (State Highway P); thence following the centerline of Highway P to its intersection with the centerline of Brose Avenue; thence south to the centerline of the east-west driveway south of County Market and Orscheln Farm and Home; thence west on the centerline of the east-west driveway to the centerline of South Outer Road; thence following the centerline of South Outer Road to the point where it becomes McRoberts Road; thence following the centerline of McRoberts Road to the northwest corner of a tract annexed to the City and presently occupied by Charles Industries; thence south on the west line of the annexed tract to the southwest corner of that tract; thence east on the south line of said tract to the southeast corner of that tract; thence north on the east side of said tract to the northeast corner of said tract at the intersection of said east line and the centerline of McRoberts Road; thence from the northeast corner of said annexed tract to the centerline of McRoberts Road, which is also the south boundary line of the City of Canton; thence east on the south boundary of the City of Canton to the east boundary of the City of Canton; thence north on the east boundary of the City of Canton to the point of beginning.

Ward No. Two: Beginning on the east boundary line of the City of Canton at a point where Clark Street, extended eastwardly, would intersect the east boundary line of the said City; thence west to the centerline of Second Street; thence north to the centerline of College Street; thence west to the centerline of Fourth Street; thence south to the centerline of Clark Street; thence west on Clark Street to the centerline of Ninth Street; thence south on Ninth Street to the intersection of the centerline of Ninth Street and Washington Street; thence northwesterly on a straight line to the intersection of the centerline of Eleventh Street and College Street; thence north on the centerline of Eleventh Street to the intersection of the centerline of Eleventh Street and White Street (Missouri State Route 16); thence west on the centerline of White Street to the intersection of White Street and the northbound on ramp to U.S. Highway 61; thence from that point to the north boundary line of the City of Canton water tower property; thence east on the City of Canton water tower property line to a point that intersects with the west boundary line of the City of Canton; thence north on said west boundary line to the north boundary line of the City of Canton; thence east on the north boundary line of the City of Canton to the east boundary line of the City of Canton; thence south on the east boundary line of the City of Canton to the point of beginning.

Ward No. Three: Beginning at the point of intersection of the centerline of South Outer Road and the centerline of McRoberts Road; thence west on the south line of the tract of land that was annexed to the City in 1999; thence north and west following the boundaries of said annexed tract to the northwest corner of said annexed tract, said point also being the centerline of Missouri Highway 16; thence east on the centerline of said Highway 16 (becoming White Street) to the intersection with the centerline of Eleventh Street; thence south on the centerline of Eleventh Street to its intersection with the centerline of College Street; thence in a southeasterly direction on a straight line to the intersection of the centerline of Ninth Street and the centerline of Washington Street (also known as "State Route P," also known as "South Monticello Road"); thence following the centerline of State Route P to its intersection with the centerline of Brose Avenue; thence south on the centerline of Brose Avenue to its intersection with the centerline of the east-west driveway south of County Market and Orscheln Farm and Home; thence west on the centerline of said driveway to the centerline of South Outer Road; thence south on the centerline of South Outer Road to the place of beginning.
