A. Definitions. As used in this Section, the following terms
shall have these prescribed meanings:
CAFO
Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation is an animal production
facility where animals are stabled or confined and fed or maintained
for a total of forty-five (45) days or more in a twelve (12) month
period and a ground cover of vegetation is not sustained over at least
fifty percent (50%) of the animal confinement area.
CITY
The City of Canton, Missouri.
FARM ANIMAL
Includes cattle, buffalo, horses, mules, swine, goats (including
"fainting goats"), sheep, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks
(excluding exotic animals).
LIVESTOCK
Cattle, sheep, swine, poultry and other animals or fowl which
are being produced primarily for use as food or food products for
human consumption.
B. Requirement. The following requirements shall apply for
the keeping of farm animals and livestock within the City limits of
the City:
1. Owners of more than five (5) contiguous acres of land located within
the City limits of the City shall be allowed to keep livestock or
farm animals on the five (5) or more acre tract.
2. Commercial feed lots or Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, (CAFOs)
will not be allowed within the City limits.
3. Owners of five (5) contiguous acres of land located within the City
limits of the City shall be allowed to keep, raise, own, harbor or
water not more than two (2) horses or ponies on the five (5) acre
tract.
4. It is unlawful for any person being the owner of or having charge
of or control of any swine to keep or harbor swine within the City
limits of the City.
5. No swine, mules, donkeys, sheep, chickens, goats, ducks, turkeys,
rabbits, horses, ponies, geese or any other livestock or farm animal
or any domesticated animal or wild fowl of any kind will be allowed
to run at large within the City limits of Canton, Missouri.
6. Livestock or farm animals will not be kept, harbored, penned or stabled
within three hundred (300) feet of any business or residential structure
in the City.
7. Barns, stables or shelters for harboring livestock or farm animals
may only be constructed by first obtaining a building permit and following
all zoning regulations and setbacks for the district in which the
barn, stable or shelter is constructed.
8. Exotic animals are covered by the provisions of Sections
210.150 through
210.180 of the Municipal Code of the City of Canton, Missouri.
C. Penalties For Violation. Any person convicted of violating the terms and conditions of this Section shall be subject to the penalties provided for in Section
100.220 of the Municipal Code of the City of Canton, Missouri.

A. Fireworks Defined. The term "fireworks" means and includes a combustible or explosive composition, or any
substance or combination of substances, or any article prepared for
the purpose of producing a visible or audible effect by combustion,
explosion, deflagration or detonation and includes a blank cartridge,
pistol, cannon, cane in which explosives are used, balloon which requires
fire underneath it to propel, firecrackers, torpedoes, sky rockets,
Roman candles, aerial salutes, bombs, electric sparklers, colored
fires or colored fire torches. Nothing in this Chapter shall be construed
as applying to the use of signals used for safety purposes or athletic
events.
B. Sale Of Fireworks. No person, firm or corporation shall
offer for sale, expose for sale, or sell at retail fireworks in the
City of Canton, Missouri, before the twentieth (20th) day of June
and after the tenth (10th) day of July.
C. Discharge Of Fireworks. No person, firm or corporation shall discharge, explode or otherwise use any fireworks in the City of Canton, Missouri, at any time except after 6:00 P.M. on the third (3rd) day of July and during the entire fourth (4th) day of July in each year; and then such discharge or explosion shall occur on private property within the City of Canton, Missouri, except as provided for in Subsection
(F) of this Section; and every person, firm or corporation discharging, exploding or otherwise using any fireworks shall do so in a careful and prudent manner as not to endanger the property of another or the life or limb of any person and shall exercise the highest degree of care.
D. Discharge Of Fireworks In Business District. No fireworks
may be discharged within the business district of the City at any
time. Any person, firm or corporation so discharging any item of fireworks
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
E. Discharge Of Fireworks On Public Property. It shall be unlawful
for any person, firm or corporation to discharge or shoot any type
of fireworks or firecrackers or any fireworks as defined in Section
320.110, RSMo., at any time in or on any public street, public sidewalk,
public park or public grounds within the corporate limits of the City.
Any person, firm or corporation so discharging any item of fireworks
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
F. Public Displays Allowed In Corporate Limits. The Board of
Aldermen by resolution may permit the discharge of fireworks on public
or private property within the corporate limits of the City if the
same is a public display, for which no admission charge is collected,
and if such display is sponsored by a local organization.
