A. 
The office of the City Engineer is hereby created.
B. 
The City Manager shall appoint a qualified person to the office of City Engineer for a term of one (1) year.

The person appointed to the office of City Engineer shall be a civil engineer and possess a thorough and practical knowledge of surveying and civil engineering. He/she shall, in addition to the oath prescribed by City Officials, take an oath that he/she is not and will not be during his/her continuance in office directly or indirectly interested in any contract with the City for any public work or material furnished. He/she need not be a resident of the City.

A. 
The City Engineer shall make and/or review all surveys, plats, drawings, plans, specifications and estimates and secure descriptions of real property that may from time to time be required of him/her.
B. 
The City Engineer shall be head of the Department of Public Works and also be known as the Director of Public Works.
