A. Private
water systems are divided into five (5) subcategories.
1. A public water supply district created under Missouri law and operating
within City limits.
2. A water supplier which holds a certificate issued by the Missouri
Public Service Commission prior to adoption of this Section for an
area within, and/or approved, by the City of Osage Beach within which
said water system is located.
3. State approved well. A water well constructed to
the standards established by the MDNR for a "public drinking water
supply".
4. Single-family well. A water well constructed after
1987 for the purpose of providing drinking water to not more than
three (3) family residences.
5. Existing well. A water well constructed prior to
1987 and which does not comply with the standards for a "public drinking
water supply".
B. Existing
developments and structures may continue to utilize a private water
system, provided however, that such existing structures shall connect
to the public water system, if available, in the following circumstances:
1. State approved well. Existing structures served
by an existing State approved well shall only be required to connect
to the public water system if said State approved well is damaged,
destroyed, condemned or otherwise ceases to provide a safe and adequate
supply of water and cannot be repaired or restored to a safe condition.
2. Single-family and existing well. Existing structures
served by an existing single-family well shall only be required to
connect to the public water system if said single-family well is damaged,
destroyed, condemned, or otherwise ceases to provide a safe and adequate
supply of water and cannot be repaired or restored to a safe operating
condition for less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00); and water
service can be extended to the property line within three (3) business
days of a request for such extension or within a specified amount
of time mutually acceptable to the City and the property owner of
said well.
C. Construction Improvements.
1. All facilities and service expansion shall be designed to conform
to the City of Osage Beach Code of Ordinances and the design and construction
manual.
2. Plans for private water system construction shall be submitted and
approved by the Building Official. Inspections of private system construction
shall be conducted by the City to ensure that system design standards
are met.
