[Adopted 8-25-1958 (Ch. 26 of the 1965 Code)]
The Town Board may adopt rules and regulations and from time
to time impose, modify, suspend and reimpose the same for the use
of water within water districts, as follows:
A. Whenever the Town Board determines that a shortage of water exists,
it may forbid the sprinkling of lawns and gardens, either between
the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. or between such occasions as
the Board shall publicly direct.
B. The use of a suction or booster pump to draw water, directly or indirectly,
from any street main is hereby prohibited; provided, however, that
the Town Board may issue a permit permitting the use of such a pump
if, in its opinion, the use thereof will not unduly interfere with
the supply of water to other residents.
Whenever the Town Board shall determine to impose restrictions
upon the use of water for sprinkling, it shall cause notice thereof
to be published in the official newspaper of the Town and such publication
shall be presumptive notice to every resident of each water district
to which such restriction applies from and after the date of such
publication.
Violation of these rules and regulations shall constitute a
misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not exceeding $50 or imprisonment
for not exceeding 30 days, or both. In addition thereto, the Town
Board may enforce compliance with these rules and regulations by cutting
off the supply of water.
