All pipe and other materials used in the construction of sanitary
sewer system shall be of the type indicated on the design drawings.
All pipe and specials will be subject to inspection by the City Inspector.

A. Polyvinyl
chloride plastic gravity sewer pipe with integral wall bell and spigot
joints shall have a minimum pipe stiffness of 46 PSI. All joints shall
conform to ASTM D 3212. Pipe shall conform to either of the following
ASTM specifications:
1. ASTM
D 3034. Pipe shall be manufactured to ASTM Resin Specification D 1784,
Class 12454-B or 12454-C Cell Classification, shall conform to SDR
35 Dimensions.
2. ASTM
F 789. Pipe shall be manufactured to ASTM Resin Specification D 1784,
Class 12164-B Cell Classification. Pipe shall bear the seal of approval
of Underwriters or shall be endorsed by the Building Commission.

All fittings shall be of the same materials as the pipe. Material
joining the fitting to the pipe shall be free from cracks and shall
adhere tightly to each joining surface.

A. Portland
cement for manhole bases, manholes, cradling, encasement, driveway
pavements, sidewalks, concrete curbs and gutters, street and road
pavements shall consist of the following.
1. Portland
cement shall conform to ASTM Specification C-150, Type I, Type II,
Type 1A of Type IIA.
2. Fine
aggregates shall be clean, coarse, washed river sand, free from earth
or other impurities and conforming to ASTM Specification C33.
3. Coarse
aggregates shall be clean, washed-and-screened river gravel or limestone,
having a specific gravity of not less than 2.56, free from dust and
fine material and shall conform to the requirements of ASTM Specification
C33, and shall have a French coefficient of wear of not less than
six (6) when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation D-2-33.
B. Cement
and aggregate shall be proportioned by weight or the cement may be
proportioned on the basis of full sacks. A sack of cement shall be
taken as ninety-four (94) pounds. The maximum water content shall
not exceed six (6) gallons per sack of cement including water contained
by the aggregate. Concrete for walks, pavements, manholes, manhole
base slabs and curbs and gutters shall be not less than a six (6)
sack mix, with minimum twenty-eight (28) day strength of three thousand
five hundred (3,500) p.s.i. and a maximum slump of four (4) inches.
Other concrete for this work shall be not less than a four and one-half
(4½) sack mix, with a minimum twenty-eight (28) day strength
of two thousand (2,000) p.s.i. and a maximum slump of five (5) inches.

Crushed stone or gravel used for restoring driveways, streets,
and road surface shall be one (1) inch minus (Missouri State Highway
Commission) M-147-57, Grading C.

Granular backfill where required, shall consist of sand, stones
and stone screenings or chat and shall be reasonably free from an
excess of soft and unsound particles and other objectionable matter.
The aggregate shall be uniformly graded and shall conform to the following
limits:

Manholes shall be constructed of precast concrete sections.
Precast reinforced concrete manholes shall be manufactured and tested
in accordance with ASTM C-478 except as herein noted. The minimum
concrete compressive strength shall be four thousand (4,000) p.s.i.
The wall thickness shall conform to Wall B of ASTM C-76072. The reinforcement
shall be as required to withstand handling, erection, and temperature
stresses. Joints shall be sealed with a premolded mastic gasket. Design
dimensions shall be as shown on the drawings. Cones and sections shall
be free from For Sewer Mains fractures, large or deep cracks, and
surface roughness. Manhole openings will utilize a "Kor-N-Seal" connection
or an approved equal.

Castings shall conform to the requirements of grey iron castings,
ASTM A-48, Class 30. Manhole covers shall be of the "closed" type
only. The castings shall conform to the details as shown on the drawings.

Manhole steps shall be forged aluminum ASTM B 2216061-T6.
