A. 
An ordinance of the City of Sullivan adopting the 2017 National Electric Codes.
1. 
The City of Sullivan, by and through its Board of Aldermen, had determined that the Electrical Codes of the City of Sullivan need to be updated so as to promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Sullivan, Missouri, and
2. 
Section 67.280, RSMo., allows Cities to incorporate by reference certain technical codes.

Three (3) copies of the 2017 National Electrical Codes are on file with the City Clerk of the City of Sullivan, Missouri, at City Hall, 210 West Washington, Sullivan, Missouri, 63080, and are hereby adopted by reference and made a part of the Code of Ordinances as fully as if set forth in its entirety.

A. 
The code adopted by this Article is hereby amended by substituting the following Sections or portions of Sections for and in lieu of those Sections or portions of Sections with corresponding numbers in the 2017 International Electrical Code or where there is no corresponding Section in the code, the following Sections shall be enacted as additions to the code:
1. 
110.5 Conductors. Conductors normally used to carry current shall be of copper or aluminum unless otherwise provided in this Code. Where the conductor material is not specified, the sizes given in this code shall apply to copper conductors. Where other materials are used, the size shall be changed accordingly. Where other materials are used, the size shall be changed accordingly. All conductors sized #6 or smaller shall be of copper material.
2. 
210.12 Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection. Delete this Section in its entirety.
3. 
210.52 (B)(1) Small Appliance Receptacle Outlets Served. In the kitchen, pantry, breakfast room, dining room, or similar area of a dwelling unit, the two (2) or more 20-ampere small-appliance branch circuits required by 210.11(C)(1) shall serve all wall and floor receptacles outlets covered by 210.52(A), all countertop outlets covered by 210.52(C).
Exception No. 3: The receptacle outlet for refrigeration equipment shall be supplied from an individual branch circuit rated 15 amperes or greater.

230.50(B)(1) Service Cables. Above-ground service cables, shall be protected by one (1) or more of the following:
1.
Rigid metal conduit (RMC).
2.
Intermediate metal conduit (IMC).
3.
Schedule 40 PVC conduit.
4.
Schedule 80 PVC conduit.
5.
Electrical metallic tubing (EMT).
6.
Reinforced thermosetting resin conduit (RTRC).
7.
Other approved means.

334.15(C) Exposed Work In Unfinished Basements And Crawl Spaces. Where cable is run at angles with joists in unfinished basements and crawl spaces, it shall be permissible to secure cables not smaller than two (2) 6 AWG or three (3) 8 AWG conductors directly to the lower edges of the joists. Smaller cables shall be run through bored holes in joists.
6. 
358.10 Uses Permitted (A) Exposed And Concealed. The use of EMT shall be permitted for both exposed and concealed work for the following:
(1) 
Delete in its entirety.
(2) 
In dry damp and wet locations.
(3) 
In any hazardous (classified) location as permitted by other articles in this Code.
7. 
406.4(D)(4) Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter. Delete in its entirety.
8. 
406.4(D)(5) Tamper-Resistant Receptacles. Delete in its entirety.
9. 
406.12 Tamper-Resistant Receptacles In Dwelling Units. Delete this Section in its entirety.
10. 
550.25(B) Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection.
(A) 
Definition. Arc-fault circuit interrupters are defined in Article 100.
(B) 
Mobile Homes and Manufactured Homes. Delete in its entirety.
